Below Are Pictures From Our Visitor
Taken by ACRE on the occasion of the visit by the Secretary of State
The visit on Monday 19th March 2024 by the Right Honorable Steve Barclay MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs was made following an approach to us from DEFRA to mark our award of funds from the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Village Hall Fund and to launch the national programme of Village Hall Week. As part of the proceedings he planted a magnolia tree at the front of the Hall. Other dignitaries present included Richard Wright, the CEO OF ACRE nationally (ie not the Cambridgeshire Branch), representatives from ACRE Cambridgeshire, Councillor Anna Bailey (Leader of East Cambs Conservatives) and Councillor Bill Hunt (our East Cambs District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council representative).
The date was chosen to coincide with our regular Monday Community Hub Cafe and was hosted by Richard Church (Chair of Trustees at that point) and other Trustees. Eighteen villagers were also present as well as representatives from some of the community groups who use the Hall.
